Amir and Chancellor Leads Jumu’ah Prayer at Minaret University, Ikirun
Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun State, was honoured on 25 September 2026 by an unscheduled visit from its Chancellor, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Alatoye, who also serves as the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, and the Pro-Chancellor, Alhaji Hassan Adebayo Sunmonu. The visit allowed the staff, students and members of the University community to share the blessings of the Jumu’ah prayer with the visitors.
In his sermon, the Chancellor drew on the Friday Sermon earlier delivered by His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba), Khalifatul Masih V, which focused on the importance of trust in Allah. He reflected on how the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) first exemplified trust, and how it later appeared in the life of the Promised Messiah (AS). He then explained what it means for a believer to place complete trust in Allah, especially during times of difficulty, uncertainty, and trial.
He explained that trusting Allah does not mean abandoning efforts or refusing to use available means to achieve our purpose. Rather, a believer is expected to make sincere use of every legitimate means within his reach while recognising that human efforts and resources have limits. When those means become insufficient, the believer’s reliance on Allah becomes even more important. He therefore encouraged the congregation to combine sincere efforts with prayers and complete reliance on Allah.
To illustrate this further, the Chancellor referred to the teaching of the Promised Messiah (AS) that when a person places his trust in Allah for support in a matter, Allah comes to his aid; as the saying goes, “he who puts his trust in Allah, He is sufficient for him.” He explained that trusting Allah does not mean that a believer will be free from hardship. Believers will also face difficulties and trials, but faith and prayers will give them the strength to remain hopeful, patient and steadfast through such moments.
The Chancellor also cited the life of the Promised Messiah (AS) as a clear example of complete reliance on Allah. He encouraged members of the University community to strengthen their relationship with Allah, remain steadfast in times of difficulty and continually seek His help through faith, sincere prayer and righteous action.

For many who were present, praying alongside the Chancellor and listening to his message made the brief visit particularly meaningful. The visit provided the University community with a valuable opportunity to come together in prayer and receive a timely reminder about the importance of trusting Allah while continuing to make sincere efforts in their daily lives.
The University community appreciates the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor for taking the time to visit despite their demanding schedules and prays that Allah continues to bless them with good health, strength and guidance in their service to Minaret University, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at and humanity at large.
