Prof. Abdur-Rahman Oladele Abdullah is a distinguished Animal Scientist and academic leader with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and agricultural consultancy. Currently serving as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Minaret University, he brings deep expertise and visionary leadership to higher education in Nigeria.

Prof Abdur-Rahman Oladele ABDULLAH, a registered Animal Scientist (RAS) with the Nigerian Institute of Animal Animal Science (NIAS) was born 11th November, 1967. He attended Ibadan Municipal Government (Practising) Primary School, Sharp Corner, OkeBola Ibadan between 1974-1979 for his primary education, Moslem Grammar School, Odinjo, Ibadan between 1979-1984 for his secondary education and the then Oyo State College of Arts and Science (OSCAS), Ile-Ife (1985-1987) for his higher school certificate (HSC).
He had his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Agriculture with specialization in Animal Science in 1991, M.Sc. degree in Animal Science in 1994 and Ph.D. Animal Breeding & Genetics in 2004 all from the Department of Animal Science, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. He was the Best Biology Student (1986/87 Academic Session), at the then Oyo State College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife during his Higher School Certificate programme and was a Federal Government Postgraduate Scholar in (1993) for his M.Sc degree course.
Prof Abdullah was appointed by Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo as Senior Lecturer in January, 2005, promoted to the grade of Associate Professor in February, 2008 and as full Professor in January, 2013. He served as the Pioneer Head of Department of Animal Science of the University (2012-2016) and the Resident Biostatistician for the School of Science and Technology. He had served as the scientific consultant to the Babcock Investment Group setting up the University Commercial Poultry Farms.
While he served as the Chairman, University Teaching and Research Farm Management Committee, he implemented the setting-up of the Poultry and Livestock Farms section of the Teaching and Research Farms at Ilara, in 2006.
He is a member, Babcock University Health Research Ethics Committee (BUHREC) (May, 2013 – till date). He had served as the Associate/Electronic Editor, ACTA SATECH, Journal of the School of Science and Technology, Babcock University (2006 – 2009). He’s currently serving as member of Editorial Board, Philippine Journal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (PJVAS) published by The Philippine Society of Animal Science, Animal and Dairy Sciences Cluster, College of Agriculture University of the Philippines Los Baños College, Laguna 4031, Philippines (www.psas-national.org).
He served in 2013 as the Secretary of Study Group on Agricultural Transformation Initiative set up by Ijebu North-East Local Government Area, Atan where he hailed from.
He had served as a member of West Africa focal group on Domestic Animal Diversity based in Institut National des Recherches Agricole du Bénin (INRAB), Cotonou, Républic du Bénin
He was one of the consultants commissioned by International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in 2005 to review the curriculum of Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) Limited Agricultural Schools in Nigeria (LFNAS).
He had served as member of Babcock University Planning Committees on National University Commission Research and Development Fairs in 2005, 2008 and 2010. One of his research works titled “Effects of dietary inclusion of raw Garlic (Allium sativum) on Performance, Haematological parameters of laying hens and egg yolk cholesterol” which was presented won the University a second place in research category at the fair in 2008.
He won twice, the Best Lecturer of the Year Award for the 2005/2006 and 2012/2013 academic sessions awarded by Agricultural Students’ Association, Babcock University.
Prof. Abdullah had been involved in series of commissioned research projects in agriculture both from local and international agencies and had attended training workshops and short courses both locally and overseas. He had supervised about thirty (30) B.Sc Students, ten (10) M.Sc students and seven (7) Ph.D students. He had published more than fifty (50) research papers in learned journals and academic conference proceedings, three (3) workshop papers, two (2) technical reports, one (1) textbook and co-edited one (1) conference proceedings.
Prof Abdullah had served as Postgraduate examiner to University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo. He had also acted as Professorial Appointment Assessor to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He had also led National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panels to accredit Agricultural Programs in some Nigerian Universities. He was a Disciplinary Committee Member (2014-2017) of Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS).
He is a member of various professional and academic associations namely, Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), International Network for Family Poultry Development (INFPD), and Genetic Society of Nigeria (GSN).
Outside the academic fold, he had worked as the Head, Broiler Breeder (Parent Stock) Unit (November 1995 – May 1997) at Zartech Limited (Agriculture Division) Block 1, Plot 8, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State and as Farms Manager (August 1997 – February 1999) at Tuns Integrated Poultry Farms Nigeria Ltd. Km 9, Ikirun Road, P.O.Box 720, Osogbo, Osun State.
He was the National President of Ahmadi Muslim Students’ Association (AMSA) Nigeria (1989 – 1991) and currently, a member of the National Majlis Amila (Executive Body) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria serving as Zira’at (Agriculture) Secretary and also a member of Planning, Implementation and Steering Committees for the establishment of Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun State since January, 2017 till his appointment as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University.
